Holden's happy anniversary

HOLDEN has announced that it will offer two 60th Anniversary edition of its VE Commodore from May 1, based on the Omega and SS V model variants and claimed to offer up to $8000 in extra value.

Priced from $33,990, the standard VE special adds 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seat inserts (and leather-wrapped steering wheel), rear parking sensors, Bluetooth mobile phone integration, a silver-painted plastic insert on the instrument panel, an insert in the grille and “60th Anniversary” badging.

The SS V edition starts at $55,290 and includes 20-inch 10-spoke alloys, satellite navigation, rear parking sensors, a high-mounted rear spoiler, chrome inserts on exterior doorhandles and “60th Anniversary” badging and floor mats.

The Lion brand will also introduce a 60th Anniversary version of its imported Captiva SUV next month, priced from $43,990 for the petrol variant (diesel adds $1000) and adding a rear-view camera, 18-inch alloys, seven-inch LCD display, in-dash DVD player, auto-dipping rearview mirror, leather-wrapped gear shift and a front passenger under-seat storage tray.

It, too, carries anniversary badging and a number of other skin treatments including a new front fascia, black bezel headlamps, revised tail-lamps and silver paintwork on the skidplate, foglamps, roof rails and doorhandles.
