Holden introduces limited-edition Colorado

BY ROBBIE WALLIS | 20th Oct 2015

GM HOLDEN has released a limited-edition version of its Colorado 4x4 pick-up, that adds extra kit to the Thai-built workhorse.

Dubbed the LS-X, it is based on the entry level LS variant of Holden's Colorado 4x4 crew cab range, and the car-maker is hoping to appeal to more buyers by equipping it with a number of new features.

The additions include 16-inch alloy wheels replacing the steel hoops on the LS, front fog-lights, unique LS-X badging, an alloy sports bar and a 'smoked' coloured bonnet protector.

It also includes carpeted flooring, to give the cabin a more premium feel.

There have been no changes under the bonnet, with the LS-X receiving the same drivetrain and 3.5-tonne towing capacity of the LS.

The additional features means the price of the LS-X increases by $1500 over the LS, and starts at $46,490, plus on-road costs in manual guise or $2200 more for the auto.

Holden is also offering capped-price servicing and free scheduled servicing for the LS-X, of which only 750 will be made available.

Holden executive director of sales Peter Keley said that the LS-X offers great value for potential buyers.

“The Colorado LS pick-up is a very tough and capable truck and now with these additional features Colorado LS-X it is as equally eye-catching,” he said.

“We are committed and focused on ensuring our customers get exceptional value for money and Colorado LS-X demonstrates this perfectly, boasting over $1,000 of savings on accessories as a group.”Year-to-date sales of the 4x4 Colorado stand at 11,875, sitting well behind the Toyota HiLux (18,479), Mitsubishi Triton (16,741) and Ford Ranger (16,599).

The Colorado received an update in November last year, however since then all-new or updated replacements have arrived for the HiLux, Ranger and Triton.

The LS-X is in Holden showrooms now.
