Holden Colorado, Trailblazer Storm to make landfall

THERE are a couple of ‘Storms’ brewing in Australia’s 4x4 ute and SUV segments, fuelled by Holden and destined to make landfall in showrooms next month.

Based on the mid-range LTZ variants in both vehicle lines, the Colorado and Trailblazer Storm special editions – priced from $53,990 and $54,990 respectively (both driveaway) – brandish rugged new styling cues including an LED light bar, black nudge bar and several other model-specific enhancements.

The pick-up scores a black sports bar, roof rails, bonnet protector, unique Storm side decals and a soft-drop tailgate.

Its related large SUV counterpart, meanwhile, sheds its bonnet protector in favour of block capital Trailblazer lettering and scores a rear spoiler and sports fascia as well as Storm badging on its front doors.

According to Holden, the upgrade package adds $4800 worth of added content to the Coloardo and $3400 to the Trailblazer, yet both are priced just $2000 upstream of the standard automatic LTZ models in their respective range.

GM Holden vehicle development engineer Jeremy Tassone said the limited-edition Storm package showcased the tried-and-tested durability of Holden’s rugged off-road-capable vehicles with added style, function and value.

“Holden has tuned the Colorado and Trailblazer locally to stand up to the toughest regional and rural roads in Australia,” he said.

Both models will be eligible for Holden’s recently introduced seven years’ free scheduled servicing (for vehicles ordered before December 31) and come with standard five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.

Holden had sold 13,343 4x4 Colorados and 2360 Trailblazers by the end of October, down 1.4 per cent and up 7.7 per cent respectively on last year.
