YOU could be forgiven for thinking the new Barina is simply a makeover of the old: the styling changes are that subtle. Really, only the tail-lights running up the rear pillars are the giveaways. The rest could be the Barina of old. But of course, it's not. This is an all-new car, longer, wider and taller, with significantly more interior room, improved interior presentation and driving dynamics. Shoulder width is extended by 80mm in the three-door and 75mm in the five-door. Front seat occupants have 15mm more headroom. Legroom in the rear is stretched a further 6mm. Specification levels have altered substantially, with uncommon features such as steering wheel-mounted controls and anti-whiplash front head restraints introduced across the range.
