POWERED by a revised version of the existing 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine, the new DOHC 16-valve Barina develops 66kW of power at 6000rpm and 120Nm of torque at 4000rpm. It requires premium unleaded to deliver its best, although it will take normal unleaded fuel. The engines features sequential fuel injection and electronic throttle control, which is operated via an electrical signal transferred from the accelerator pedal to an air inlet throttle mechanism. The system is designed to allow more precise control of throttle movements, lowering exhaust emissions and giving reliability gains through the minimisation of mechanical wear.
