ALL passengers in the Astra convertible's 2+2 layout are provided with three-point lap/sash seatbelts. The car is a strict four-seater, with no belt or seat available for the centre rear seat passenger. In the event of an accident, the driver and front passenger are protected by steering wheel and dash-mounted airbags respectively, as well as front seat-mounted side impact airbags. The convertible misses out on the 60/40 split-folding rear seat, which Astra hatch and sedan buyers receive as standard equipment, due to the space required for the roof mechanism. However, it does receive the fold-down centre ski-port that is standard on up-spec CD and SRi Astra models.
