WITHOUT the need to include two rear doors, the Astra designers were able to enhance the sleek, wedge-shaped appearance of the car. In particular, the revised rear window and larger doors enhance the profile. Despite being an entry-level model, the exterior features include body-coloured wing mirrors and bumpers, full wheel covers, rear foglamps and (H7) halogen headlamps. Drag coefficient remains a good 0.31Cd. As with other models in the range, the exterior design has two main objectives: to reflect the quality, strength and durability associated with a German-engineered product and to convey a sense of European flair.
