Recalls for Maserati, Jaguar, Skoda and VW

Other recent recalls include the Volkswagen Touareg and Passat Wagon and the Mitsubishi Triton and Pajero Sport.
In total, 907 Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli luxury sedans (plus another 111 in New Zealand) are being recalled over a floor mat that could potentially entrap the accelerator pedal, which the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) recalls website says “may result in a serious accident causing injury to the operator or passersby”.
Spokesperson for Maserati distributor European Automotive Imports, Edward Rowe, told GoAuto there had been no reports or incidents in Australia or New Zealand and that customers will be contacted and invited to return their car to the dealership for rectification, which would take around an hour to complete.
Jaguar XE and XF luxury sedans in the 2016 and 2017 model year have been recalled because, according to the ACCC recalls website, “the under bonnet low pressure fuel feed hose may detach from the fuel filter, causing fuel to leak into the engine bay and the engine to stall”.
“This will also cause loss of power, assisted braking and steering,” says the website, which adds that the potential problem may cause the engine to cut out “with minimal warning”.
If this happens, the consequence would be “sudden loss of power and reduced braking and steering capacity, which could cause a crash”.
The Skoda Superb Wagon is subject to the same sunroof recall as the Volkswagen Passat Wagon on which it is based, which the ACCC says poses a potential “crush hazard if limbs are trapped in the sunroof during closing when using the remote key”.
According to the recalls website, this is caused because “the specified limits of the roll back function of the sunroof may be exceeded when closing using the remote key”.
Volkswagen is also recalling Touareg large SUVs built between 2011 and 2016 because “a circlip on the bearing bracket of the brake pedal may become detached from its locking position”.
“As a result, the bearing pin can move out of one of the two bearings, impairing brake pedal actuation … The loss of braking effectiveness may pose an accident hazard for the driver and other road users.”Sticking with Volkswagen, the Tiguan medium SUV is being recalled because “due to a manufacturing fault the side airbags may deploy abnormally during an accident”.
“If the vehicle is involved in an accident and the side airbag deploys abnormally, there is a risk of injury to the vehicle occupants.”GoAuto understands Skoda is also issuing a similar recall for the related Yeti.
In other recent recall news, the Mitsubishi MQ Triton and QE Pajero Sport fitted with a Genuine Mitsubishi Towbar have been recalled because “the fitted flange head bolts may loosen in use”.
“If the bolts become loose, the towbar can become detached from the vehicle creating a safety hazard to the occupants and other parties,” the recalls website notification says.
