ACCC slammed for 'organised' car imports comment

- Australia's competition watchdog has stirred a hornet’s nest by suggesting the federal government's proposed parallel new-car import scheme might provide better consumer protection if the scheme allowed businesses to import vehicles on behalf of individual consumers.

- Car companies say such a commercial arrangement for parallel imports flies in the face of promises by government ministers that only individuals will be able to import such new vehicles under the relaxation of import rules in 2018.
