ITS industry plans $152m research program

- The intelligent transport systems (ITS) industry believes it could help reduce the $16.5 billion in annual losses caused by congestion on Australian roads and save many lives by reducing road trauma if its request for a co-operative research centre grant is approved.

- The industry has mapped out a $152 million, 10-year research plan under the federal government’s revived co-operative research centre (CRC) scheme, lodging its submission last week on behalf of the proposed CRC known as iMove.
