FORD Performance Vehicle’s F6 Tornado is clearly aimed at a more youthful audience. It’s a mean-lookin’ ute for starters, wide alloys, body kit and the type of performance once the sole domain of sportscars. In a sense it’s today’s two-seater sportscar, except with the load-carrying practicality of a ute. The Tornado, like its sedan sibling, the Typhoon, sports a tweaked turbocharged six-cylinder, the same as the XR6 turbo. However, thanks to FPV’s handiwork it develops 270kW at 5250rpm and peak torque of 5250rpm from 2000rpm. FPV will sell the blown six powerhouse alongside the GT and GT-P, but believes there’s plenty of room for buyers looking for hot six-cylinder performance as well as its more traditional V8 buyer. HSV beware.
