Ford adds value to Territory

BY MARTON PETTENDY | 6th Oct 2008

FORD may be reserving its brightest limelight at this week's Sydney motor show opening for the all-new Fiesta that goes on sale in early 2009, but also making its debut there will be a limited-edition version of the once top-selling Territory.

Announced last week and on sale now, the Territory SR2 limited-edition is claimed to feature $5645 of extra equipment over the entry-level Territory TX upon which it is based.

Additional features include sports (partial) leather trim, a leather-trimmed steering wheel/gearshifter/handbrake, warm charcoal centre console and door trim finishes, cruise control, an Alpine rear DVD system with 10.2-inch screen and two wireless headphones, seven-spoke 17-inch sports alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers and door cladding, and unique "SR2" badging.

The SR2 is available in two new exterior paint colours previously reserved for the Territory Ghia and Turbo models: Seduce and Sensation.

The Territory SR2 is available in both RWD and AWD guises, with the former's price set at $37,990 and the AWD priced at $42,990. For a "limited time", however, Ford will make the Territory SR2 RWD available for $36,990.

The Territory SR2 follows the popular SR special that was sold in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

"The unique Territory SR models have been a popular addition to our SUV line-up since they were first introduced in 2006," said Ford Australia's new vice-president of marketing and sales, Beth Donovan.

"The new Territory SR2 continues our special value pack tradition by providing customers with an extensive list of extra features, on top of the Territory's already comprehensive equipment package."
