IT'S a measure of how wrong Ford got the T-Series in the first place that there have been three versions of its high-performance range in just three years. What started as a smooth, sophisticated and mature grand touring concept using the V8 Falcon and Fairlane as its base has transformed into what you see here - raw performance with a tough stance and a determination to really stick it up Holden rival, HSV. We are testing the entry level model, the TE50, which does not get the same amount of equipment or publicity as the TS50 hero car, but still gets that most vital ingredient - the 5.6-litre 250kW version of the venerable Windsor V8.
