FORD is in danger of becoming the Ranger pick-up company, as the maker of the Australian-developed and engineered – though Thai-built – one-tonner.

In popular range-topping Wildtrak Dual Cab 4x4 guise, with the $600 Tech Pack option ticked, the big utility straddles both the workhorse and recreation markets with uncharacteristic Aussie swagger for this sort of pick-up, adding a big dose of Ford driving and safety DNA into the mix for good measure.

There are some drawbacks with sort of vehicle, but the one with the big Blue Oval probably has the least number of them.
