IMAGE is everything with the Laser SR - but that's exactly the point. Ford has given people the chance to get the head-turning SR body adornments without the uprated performance and handling (and price and equipment) found in the 2.0-litre SR2. Not that the basic mechanical package isn't sound indeed, the 1.8-litre engine provides strong performance and the basic Laser road manners are as solid as ever. The main problem for SR is that it lacks standard equipment compared to the similarly priced and equally competent Laser GLXi.
