DISC brakes are used front and rear, the ventilated front discs measuring 258mm in diameter and the solid rear discs 281mm. These are the same brakes used on all 1.8-litre (and now 2.0-litre) Lasers, with 1.6-litre models making do with 235mm front discs and 200mm rear drums. An anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution is available as an option on Laser SR and all other 1.8/1.6 Lasers only the 2.0 SR2 has it standard. All models use rigid front callipers and high-friction-coefficient brake pads to provide greater resistance to fade under high speed or high load conditions.
