Ford ups warranty to five years

FORD Australia has lifted its new-car warranty from three years/100,000km to five years/unlimited kilometres on all vehicles, including its light-commercial range, sold from May 1, matching Honda, Hyundai and Skoda’s assurance programs.
However, Tesla still tops the industry with an eight-year/160,000km warranty period on electrical and mechanical defects that compliments its eight-year/unlimited kilometre lithium-ion battery promise.
For mainstream brands, Kia remains at the front of the pack with a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre period across its range, while MG and Holden (for a limited time) offer the same coverage on select models.
Ford now matches its rival Holden’s promotional five-year/unlimited-kilometre cover, with the Blue Oval’s other aftersales programs remaining unaffected, including a loan car during scheduled servicing, capped-price servicing, and Sync2 and Sync3 sat-nav updates.
In addition, each time a Ford completes a scheduled service, the vehicle is eligible for 12 months of roadside assist, up to a total of seven years.
All new Fords qualify for the five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, including the Mustang sportscar, Fiesta light hatchback, Focus small car, Escape medium SUV and Everest off-roader.
The new warranty period also extends to the brand’s most-popular model, the Ranger pick-up, as well as the Transit range of light-commercial vans, and covers both private and commercial use.
Assurance for dealer-fitted Ford Parts and Accessories remains the same as before, up to 12 months or 20,000kms.
Ford Australia president and CEO Graeme Whickman said the brand’s new warranty period is in direct response to consumer feedback.
“This is another step in our transformation plan,” he said. “We’re transforming our dealerships, our products, our customer service and ownership experience, and today we’re introducing a five-year unlimited kilometre warranty to offer even more value for our customers.
“This is not a special offer, it’s what customers have been asking for and it’s what we are delivering today. We will continue to innovate and find new ways to provide the best service and benefits we can for our customers.”
