THE XR8 has a high security locking system featuring 'Tibbe' locks on doors, ignition and boot, recessed driver's door lock button and a strengthened steering column lock housing. The remote keyless door and boot entry system includes two-stage door unlock and a panic alarm, as well as a door-ajar warning when the doors are locked via the remote control. There is also a dash mounted door lock/unlock switch, while the interior lights switch on when the vehicle is unlocked with the remote keypad. The XR8 also has "Smartshield" electronic transponder engine immobilisation.
