Ford is introducing a new ‘G’ sub-brand with the new FG Falcon range. The G6, G6E and G6E Turbo are all pitched as prestige models that replace the Futura, Fairmont and Fairmont Ghia of the previous range. The most affordable G-car is the G6, which sits above the XT in the Falcon line up at $39,990, which represents a $3500 premium. The G-cars can be distinguished from other Falcon models by a different front end styling incorporating a larger grille that uses a mesh pattern and makes more of a feature of the trapezoidal lower grille.

This prestige look ties in the Ford’s new Kinetic design language, which is most visible on the new Mondeo. As standard, the G6 is fitted with the 195kW/391 inline 4.0-litre six teamed with a new five-speed automatic. The ZF six-speed auto is available as an option. The G6 comes with a range of interior and exterior upgrades to differentiate in from the XT.
