COMPLIMENTING the new multi-link IRS, refined front suspension and quicker steering rack, 16 x 7.0-inch alloy wheels are standard on Futura.

They combine with a wider rear wheel track than before to better fill Falcon's rear wheel arches than the Aclaim's 15-inch alloy items. And, despite the larger wheels, Falcon has now surpassed Commodore in terms of ride comfort.

Valve caps are plastic and a full-size spare alloy wheel is strapped under a masonite board under the boot floor lining, with a cantilever jack stowed inside the right rear quarter.

Fairmont gets alloy wheels of the same size, with 17-inch alloys reserved for XR and Fairmont Ghia.
