THE Futura is differentiated from the Forte by chrome inserts on the bumper, as well as new 16-inch alloy wheels. A boot-mounted rear spoiler is also standard. Inside, there is a new plush velour trim and rear power windows are now standard. The wagon is available with a warm charcoal interior and also receives the chrome bumper inserts. Like the AUIII Forte, the Futura gets standard side skirts, plus a matt grey treatment around the headlights to visually reduce their mass. In 2000, with the AUII, the Futura was less revised stylistically than the Forte but it did get the upmarket grille and bonnet as well as the subtly improved rear end. The side profile benefited from bigger, 16-inch wheels and the lower ride height introduced soon after the AU's launch.
