THE overall aim for the volume-selling Forte was to make it look more upmarket.

The front lost the sharply creased bonnet and controversial vertical-slat grille, while at the rear the wider and lower rear bumper serves to hide previously visible mechanical parts. The rear end is also enhanced with a clear indicator lens incorporated into the tail-lights, plus new applique and badge.

A factory-fit rear spoiler is optional on Forte, and standard on all other short-wheelbase sedans. Equipment levels are higher than ever, now including dual airbags, CD, over-speed alert, upgraded stereo and a roof-mounted sunglasses holder. The AUII Falcon keypad has also been upgraded and now features a driver's door only unlock and panic button.
