THE braking systems in our locally made and designed cars have seen significant upgrades over the past few years and the Forte now uses an all-disc system with three-channel anti-lock. The beefing up in 2000 of the front rotors (from 24mm to 28mm), twin (instead of single) piston front calipers, larger pads and a stronger brake booster all help to give secure, stable stopping power. Ford says the upgrades lower the risk of over-heating and improve high-speed effectiveness.
