THE base Forte Falcon went from 15-inch to 16-inch steel wheels with the introduction of the AUII model in 2000. This was chiefly aimed at improving appearance but a half-inch increase in rim width also gave subtle improvements in road grip. It also betters entry level Commodores by an inch in diameter, but the trade-off is more expensive rubber. The LPG version has its space-saver spare tyre in the boot proper.
