A NEW 5.0-litre V8 was introduced with the AU Falcon in 1998 and this carries over in the AUII. Power went up six per cent, or 10kW, while torque was lifted from 388Nm to 395Nm. Imported from the US, it remains a pushrod design, using sequential electronic Ford EEC-V engine management including a distributor-less ignition system. The same engine is used in the Ford Explorer sold in North America.
