FORD Australia recorded 196 Fairlane sales last month (and its first LTD sale for the year), however it was not evidence of a revival – and, we should add, cause for a stay of execution – for the long-wheelbase models.

"We increased our volume substantially, but I have to tell you that in that number we did quite a bit of rental business in the month," said Ford Australia president Tom Gorman.

"In the long-run we really have to see retail customers coming back to that product – and I’m not going to pull a punch here, it’s going to be very, very hard for us on long-wheelbase going forward.
