RUNNING out of payload capacity in an F-Series is rarely an issue. The F250 can carry up to 1380kg, tow 3500kg braked and has a GVM of 3992kg. The load bed measures 2052mm in length, 1292mm wide between the wheel arches and 1642mm wide at the rear opening. Compare this with the Ford Falcon ute dimensions of 1818mm in length, 1204mm wide between the wheel arches, 1394mm wide at the rear opening and a load carrying capacity of 530kg (550kg for manual model). Two boards can be placed across the wheel arches in special depressions to allow flat loading of 1200mm x 2000mm plywood sheets and to create a separate cargo space under the plywood. Tie-down hooks are located in each corner of the body to help secure cargo. There are no tie-down rails or hooks on the outside of the body, so lockable canopies like the one fitted to our test vehicle will look the part.
