THE Cougar has a five-speed manual transmission as standard a four-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission is optional. Ford's MTX75 five-speed manual transmission is fitted to the Cougar while the electronically-controlled four-speed automatic, as used in the Mondeo, is specially developed for front-wheel drive applications and is controlled in conjunction with the engine by the EECV management module.
