Aussie Fords bound for Britain

PERFORMANCE car enthusiasts in the UK will soon be able to buy Ford's Tickford-enhanced Falcons and Fairlanes.

The vehicles will be imported into the UK by American Carriage Company, which is based in Kingston.

The fettled Fords will not be the first Aussie muscle cars to be sold in Britain as importer GIV has been selling small numbers of HSV Commodores to enthusiasts for the past 12 months.

The Tickford range will provide an interesting alternative with the XR6 and XR8 models likely to be supplemented by the faster and more luxurious TE50 and TS50. The Fairlane-based TL50 may also be offered.

Pricing is yet to be announced but the XR8 may cost around 25,000 pounds - more or less in line with a BMW 520i or Audi 1.8T SE.

The Aussie sports sedans are likely to generate a keen following among British muscle car enthusiasts, who have had few alternatives to TVRs and Chevrolet Camaros in recent times.
