Grande Punto launches Fiat in Melbourne

BY MARTON PETTENDY | 17th Feb 2006

Popular Italian marque Fiat held its brand launch at the Melbourne motor show last week.

To be imported by the distributor of sister brands Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Maserati in Australia, the first new Fiat to be available here in 18 years is the Grande Punto small car, which made its national debut in Melbourne.

To be available in two versions – including a 96kW 1.9-litre Multijet turbo-diesel – from around mid-year, the all-new Punto will be positioned below the Alfa 147 hatch when it comes to price and specification.
