IF YOU, like us, are missing the old European Holden XC Barina and wish that General Motors would bring in the popular new Corsa version that we are cruelly denied in lieu of the old Daewoo T200 Kalos clone TK Barina, then take a long hard look at the Fiat Punto 1.4. It may appear Italian, and indeed it has a lot of Latino charm in its character and presentation, but underneath there is enough Opel Corsa engineering for XC Barina owners to recognise something in the Fiat’s strength, solidity and practicality. The fact is, both the new Corsa and the Punto are genetically from the same GM DNA pool. The result is an Italian supermini with Teutonic engineering input… sounds like a great combination. Now all Fiat needs to do is a better job of selling its sexy little supermini.
