FERRARI’S new F430 Spider has arrived in Australia, with deliveries of the drop-top entry-level Fazza beginning both here and in New Zealand last week.

Powered by the same 360kW/465Nm 4.3-litre V8 as its coupe stablemate, the Spider features two steel rollover hoops, a powered roof that opens and closes in 20 seconds and all-aluminium body panels.

At 70kg heavier than the coupe, the 1520kg F430 Spider launches to 100km/h in a claimed 4.1 seconds (0.1 seconds slower than the coupe), on its way to a top speed of 305km/h (10km/h down on the coupe).

At $419,000 for the manual and $444,000 for F1 sequential transmission versions, the F430 Spider waiting list stretches well into next year, with two to three vehicles expected to arrive per month.
