YRV uses a power-assisted rack and pinion steering system with the rack mounted low on the subframe in an effort to minimise bump steer. Daihatsu claims the system provides a combination of crisp response, low steering effort and consistent feel in all driving conditions. The turning circle is a tight 8.8m while the three-spoke airbag steering wheel requires 3.6 turns lock to lock.
