THE YRV uses a conventional MacPherson strut suspension at the front axle with curved offset tapered coil springs designed to reduce sliding friction in the shock absorbers when subjected to lateral loads. A front stabiliser bar is attached to the lower strut arm. At the rear axle, a semi-independent torsion axle beam with coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers is used. It is a compact configuration using a rigid U-shaped torsion beam and two trailing arms.
