A driver and front passenger airbag are standard on all Terios models. Three rear seatbelts are provided, but the centre position is a lap-only belt and rear headrests restricted to SX model. Terios uses a monocoque chassis rather than the more traditional off-road ladder frame unit, so it should perform better in a collision. In the event of a crash, the central locking system on SX models automatically unlocks the doors and flashes the indicators. Like virtually all passenger cars today, the Terios has front and rear crumple zones and side impact beams in each of the doors. A high-mounted brake lamp is set on the inside of the back window.
