The 796cc Matiz engine was jointly developed by Daewoo and Tickford over three years

Three-cylinder, single overhead camshaft engine develops precisely 37.5kW at 5900rpm, with exactly 68.6Nm of torque coming in at 4600rpm

Five-speed manual transmission only is available with Matiz

Dual front airbags are standard in Matiz

The car also comes with standard air-conditioning, power front windows and four-speaker sound system with CD player

The styling concept for the Matiz was penned by Ital Design in Turin

Part of the hot-test development for the Matiz was conducted in Australia

Daewoo says the Matiz was designed to meet all current and foreseeable future crash-safety requirements

Because of the car's light weight, the rack and pinion steering does not need power assistance

Braking is by a power assisted disc-drum system

Independent front suspension is by MacPherson struts

Independent rear suspension uses trailing links and short coil springs to minimise intrusion into the boot

Split-fold rear seats double-fold to maximise load carrying space
