IN its now familiar, thoroughly competent way, Daewoo has a new car to tackle the micro market in Australia. The new Matiz belongs to the international community with input from various European design sources giving a credibility edge often lacking in micro cars from the East. The Ital Design one-box styling is definitely a plus, as is the Tickford-enhanced engineering that has helped produce a particularly sweet, if minuscule, three-cylinder engine. The Matiz is surprisingly accommodating, well equipped and reasonably priced in a demanding market segment.
