Citroen introduces six-year warranty

NICHE brand Citroen has announced a six-year warranty on selected models, giving it the longest new-car warranty available in Australia.

Kicking off from March 1, the warranty will cover all three models in the DS-line including DS3 hatch and Cabrio, DS4, DS5 as well as the new Grand C4 Picasso seven-seat people-mover that launched this month.

These models are also covered by six years of roadside assistance.

Other models in Citroen’s local line-up, such as the C3, C4 and C5 passenger cars and the Berlingo light-commercial van are not included in the new terms and are instead covered by the existing three-year/100,000km warranty and three-year roadside assist.

Citroen Automobiles Australia national marketing manager Manuel Tyras said the company was not currently looking to introduce the lengthy warranty on the rest of the C-line.

“At the moment we are not looking at it. But if it is successful, who knows?”South Korean car-makers Hyundai and Kia previously had the most generous warranty in Australia with their five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, with French brand Renault jumping on board with similar terms in 2011 for its passenger car line-up, excluding Renault Sport.

Mitsubishi also offers a five-year warranty but it is capped at 130,000km.

Mr Tyras said customer feedback prompted local distributor Sime Darby to offer the new warranty on the DS and Grand C4 Picasso.
