THE C5's all-alloy, 3.0-litre 60-degree V6 uses twin camshafts per bank and 24 valves and comes from the Xantia, but it's been reworked to give more power (157kW at 6000rpm and 279Nm at 2000rpm compared with 140kW and 267Nm) as well as lower emissions and improved fuel economy. This has been achieved by adopting variable-timing inlet valves, reworked combustion chambers and fuel supply system as well as separate ignition coils for each cylinder. The V6 has also been given the reduced rotating mass/minimum friction treatment. Premium grade unleaded fuel is recommended.
