SMG for C4 diesel

BY TERRY MARTIN | 23rd Jun 2006

CITROEN Australia will offer a new "robotised" six-speed sequential-manual gearbox in its C4 HDi turbo-diesel model from early 2007 that is claimed to improve fuel consumption over a conventional manual by up to five per cent.

To be offered as an option, the robotized C4 delivers economy of 4.5L/100km across a combined cycle.

It is also claimed to drop carbon dioxide emissions to 120g/km and to shift gears, via steering wheel paddles, in just 0.8 seconds (or 0.4 seconds in sport mode).
