PART of the PT Cruiser's character is the ultra-flat tailgate, which is reminiscent of 40s-style commercial vans. Body-colour dash panels and thin-spoked steering wheel also evoke images of the 1930s and 1940s, while on a more utilitarian front, the rear parcel tray can be set in high or low positions, or can be used as a "bar".
