SWITCHABLE low-speed traction control is standard on the LE. The traction control is functional up to 56km/h. Power-assisted anti-lock braking system is also standard on LE. ABS and traction control are a combined option on the base model SE. The Neon's dual frontal airbags are certified to US regulations that allow less forceful ignition. Other safety features include an energy-absorbing steering column, front knee blockers along the bottom of the instrument panel which help prevent the occupant sliding under the panel in an accident, anti-submarining seat design that helps prevent passengers slipping under the seatbelt in an accident, height-adjustable shoulder belts and an increased front-end crumple zone. On the debit side, there's no lap-sash centre-rear belt and no seatbelt pretensionsers.
