THIS is undoubtedly the best Chrysler-badged product since the Voyager, and it will do no harm to the company’s image in Australia, even if it’s only a niche product. Styled for maximum impact, built in Germany, quite rapid and dynamically competent into the bargain, the Crossfire is yet another temptation in a category recently enlivened by a number of impressive new releases, including the Mazda RX-8 and Nissan 350Z. Chrysler will be making capital out of the Mercedes underpinnings, plus the fact that Crossfire is about $40,000 less than its nearest Mercedes equivalent, the SLK320. It certainly has the credentials, and the looks, to make a dent in the prestige sports coupe market.
