Caddy on target for Oz

BY MARTON PETTENDY | 23rd Dec 2005

GENERAL MOTORS’ Cadillac luxury brand remains on target to be introduced Down Under in 2007, according to Holden boss Denny Mooney.

"Is Cadillac still on the agenda? Yes, it is. (It’s) probably still a year to two away, but we’re working on a strategy," he said in a address to media earlier this month.

Mr Mooney confirmed Holden was in a holding pattern as it awaited a full complement of right-hand drive Cadillacs to become available.

"We have said all along (that Holden has) got to have enough of a portfolio of right-hand drive products available for us to satisfy our distribution system, because our dealers have to make money.

"We can’t ask dealers to limp along with one product. There are plans to get a full portfolio of right-hand drive Cadillacs," Mr Mooney said.

As previously reported, that portfolio already includes the front-drive Saab 9-3-based BLS medium sedan and the Commodore-sized CTS large sedan, while the full-size STS sedan and SRX four-wheel drive are due to enter right-hand drive production in 2006.
