First look: Buick gets luxurious with Enclave

NO, General Motors brand Buick hasn’t rebodied the Daewoo-built Captiva SUV that will arrive in Holden dealerships this year under another name – the Enclave is a replacement for the US-only Rendezvous and Rainier SUVs.

One of three crossovers that GM will build off its new Lambda platform (which will also underpin the GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook), the Enclave revealed at Detroit is powered by a 201kW 3.6-litre DOHC V6.

US sources suggest a V8 option will eventually also be offered with the front/all-wheel drive Enclave, but for now the six-seater concept is officially only "a glimpse of a vehicle Buick intends to bring to market".

Enclave features include a skylight that extends almost the entire length of the passenger compartment and a unique in-dash/in-seat/overhead DVD system.
