THE X5 comes with a total of 10 airbags. The system utilises frontal, side and head airbags at the front, plus side airbags and headbags in the rear. The front airbags inflate in two stages according the severity of an accident, thus helping protect passengers against injury from the airbags themselves. The polyethylene fuel tank is located ahead of the rear axle, out of the impact region.
