BMW X2 Edition GoldPlay headed to Oz

BY MATT BROGAN | 31st Jan 2022

BMW will release its X2 Edition GoldPlay locally from Q2 this year.

The special edition SUV combines exclusive exterior and interior appointments and will be available in both 141kW/280Nm sDrive 20i and 225kW/450Nm M35i variants, the former with BMW’s standard M Sport X Package.

Australian-delivered X2 Edition GoldPlay models will be available in San Remo Green metallic and Skyscraper Grey exterior finishes marking the first time the exclusive paint colours have been available in the X2 range. Other paint options include Black Sapphire, Alpine White, and BMW Individual Frozen Black metallic.

The model is differentiated by a Galvanic Gold shade for the kidney grille surround, wing mirror caps, and as inserts on the standard 20-inch M aerodynamic wheels. Galvanic Gold side foliation is also found on the doors and the front and rear side panels.

BMW says customers may opt to remove the Galvanic Gold exterior elements from their X2 Edition GoldPlay if they wish. The elements will be replaced with black finishes in such cases.

Inside, the X2 Edition GoldPlay is equipped with M-specific equipment aspects including an M leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons, anthracite-coloured headliner, M stainless steel pedals, M sport seats in Dakota leather with contrasting Giallo Oro stitching, and car key with distinctive M identifier.

Accents including the door sill strips also carry “Edition” lettering in Galvanic Gold while a Dark Graphite matt trim strips around the instrument panel.

The special edition model also comes with gold-coloured contrast stitching for the instrument panel, centre console, and outer and centre armrests of the front seats. The edge binding for the anthracite-coloured floor mats is additionally in Giallo Oro.

Both X2 Edition GoldPlay variants retain the standard equipment list of their derivative models and feature items including LED headlights with extended contents, automatic tailgate operation, two-zone automatic climate control and a lighting package.

Comfort and convenience features include Cruise Control with brake function, Park Distance Control with sensors at the rear, Collision Warning with city braking function, Speed Limit Display with no-overtaking indicator, the iDrive control system with freestanding 10.25-inch touchscreen display and the full-colour BMW Head-Up Display.

BMW Australia says pricing and full specifications for the BMW X2 Edition GoldPlay will be announced closer to the model’s launch.
