First look: BMW flagship gets a touch of M

BY DAVID HASSALL | 30th Jun 2009

THOUGH far from being the long-rumoured but mythical M7, BMW has revealed the first M Sports Package for its flagship 7 Series range in Europe and is “under consideration” for Australian introduction late this year or in early 2010.

However, the M Sports Package amounts to little more than a body kit incorporating additional chrome trim on the front and rear aprons, with 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design featuring different-sized tyres front and rear (or optional 20-inch units), while the interior features leather sports seats and M-badged scuff plate, footrest and steering wheel.

The M Sports Package will be available for all 7 Series models and comes standard with BMW’s Dynamic Drive system, while buyers can also select an exclusive carbon black metallic paint finish.
