BMW has introduced a flurry of niche models in the past few years, but core cars such as the 5 Series are still crucial to its success., , That’s why the German car-maker has thrown everything at the F10 5 Series with a clean-sheet design, new suspension, potent engines and dramatically improved interior., , It has also kissed goodbye the polarising E60 styling, adopting a more traditional design mixing aggression and elegance., , There is an engine to suit everyone, starting with a turbo-diesel, a naturally aspirated petrol six, a turbo-petrol six and a twin-turbo petrol V8. All are linked to a new ZF transmission with no fewer than eight gears., , As with any BMW, there is a long list of expensive options, including adaptive suspension, a bird’s-eye camera system to assist with parking and heat-sensing night vision.
