THE 530i Sport is powered by one of the new-generation M54 straight-six engines - a 3.0-litre DOHC, 24-valve inline six that develops 170kW at 5900rpm and 300Nm at 3500rpm, or 20 percent more power and 7 percent more torque than the 2.8-litre M52 series engine it replaced. The engine delivers at least 85 percent maximum torque from as low as 1500rpm. Claimed acceleration from rest to 100km/h is 7.4 seconds, while official fuel consumption at 11.4L/100km (city) and 7.2L/100km (highway).
